Afternoon Sailing Experience
Meet the crew in our riverside events centre at just before 12pm for a cup of tea or coffee before heading down to the pontoons to board your yacht for the experience. Our professional crew will then introduce you to the yacht and give a short safety brief before slipping lines. Enjoy a baguette lunch as we motor out of the picturesque river Hamble to the famous sailing waters of the Solent. Here you will help hoist the sails and get your first taste of sailing, as the Clipper 60 starts to move under wind power alone.
This is a hands on experience, so you will be actively involved in sailing the Clipper 60 throughout the afternoon. There is an opportunity for everyone to take the wheel and steer the yacht and when not steering there are plenty of other important jobs on board to keep you busy as you become a valuable member of crew aboard this 60ft Ocean Race Yacht for the afternoon.
The exact course for the trip will depend on the tides, but the Skipper will introduce you to lots of sailing manoeuvres during this hands on experience aboard a 60ft Ocean Race Yacht before we return to the marina for 4pm.
Where we sail: On the Solent, from Hamble Point Marina in Hamble
Event time: 12pm to 4pm (lunch included aboard the boats)
Maximum participants: Up to 12 per yacht
When: Selected midweek and weekend dates from April to October.
A baguette lunch, soft drinks and tea and coffee as well as all the safety kit such as lifejackets and wet weather clothing are provided as part of the day.
Participants must be at least 12 to come on this day and if they are 12 to 17 they must book with a parent or guardian. There is no upper age limit.
There are a number of steps and a ladder inside the yacht, if you think you might need assistance to move around, we would ask you book with someone who can give you a helping hand.
